Angel Gowns and Angel Wraps

More than 626,000 babies are stillborn or miscarried each year in the United States. These special angels are remembered by their parents with a beautiful one-of-a-kind Angel Gown or Angel Wrap.

These little gowns are made from donated wedding dresses, and seamstresses like Powell make sure that no piece of the dress goes to waste, using every bead and scrap of lace. She can make as many as 18 unique tiny gowns and wraps out of just one dress.

They are brought to hospitals, where they are given to families who have experienced infant loss. The gowns give the babies dignity and comfort during a difficult time.

There are groups across Canada making these special angel gowns and wraps, so if you have a wedding dress to donate, please find a group in your area. Groups also need donated sewing supplies, such as lace, ribbon, bobby pins, pinking shears, fabric scissors, bobbins, buttons and sewing thread.
