Angel Gowns Provide Comfort to Bereaved Families

If you’re looking for a way to provide comfort to a bereaved family, consider offering an angel gown. These beautiful outfits are custom-made from donated wedding dresses. They’re perfect for smaller babies, up to newborns, and are available at hospitals, bereavement groups, and funeral homes. The gowns also serve as a burial dress and baptism garment.

Angel Gowns are made by volunteers who take donated wedding dresses and turn them into beautiful baby burial garments. Each kit includes a special gown, two hats, and a blanket. It’s ideal for families coping with infant loss, including stillbirth, premature birth, and other difficult situations. In addition, it can be a good option for memorial services or family arriving to say goodbye to a loved one.

There are a number of organizations that make and distribute angel gowns. While some of these organizations are free to use, others charge a fee for the kits. Some even require a monetary donation to cover shipping costs. This donation allows the organization to send the completed gowns to bereaved parents.

For example, there are several Angel Gowns Programs that are located in all 50 states. You can find an organization near you by doing a search on Google. One such program is the Levine Children’s Hospital’s Angel Gown Program.

The program is led by a group of volunteers who sew the garments, donate them to hospitals and bereavement centers, and ship them to the families. Last year, the Angel Gowns Program spent $35,000 to send gowns to bereaved families. Many of the gowns are sewn by mothers who are grieving the loss of their child.

Another group, Jordyn’s Gift, transforms wedding dresses into angel gowns. Unlike the other organizations, Jordyn’s Gift is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Those who donate can choose to receive their gowns back, or follow the dress to a developing country.

Deanna Williamson and Tom Williamson, who lost their son Eli at 20 weeks, are just two of the families who have received an angel gown. Their son passed away during an ultrasound. After their son’s death, they were placed on a waiting list. But when they noticed a Facebook ad for an angel gown program, they emailed their wedding dresses to be included in the project.

The Angel Gowns Project also helps women build self-confidence. Having the chance to work with a professional seamstress in a project such as this can help bereaved mothers and women in general. Those who choose to donate are given the opportunity to virtually meet the seamstress and learn more about the process.

Angel gowns can be a wonderful source of comfort for families who have suffered a miscarriage or the loss of an infant. Angel Gowns can bring families together and provide them with the chance to celebrate the life of their loved one.
