Donate a Wedding Dress to Angel Gowns

If you have a wedding dress to donate, consider donating it to the Angel Gown Program. You can follow the journey of your gown and virtually meet the seamstress as it arrives in a developing country. This program sends all gowns to the developing country, and sometimes you can receive some of your gowns back to donate here in the United States. For a $100 donation, you can donate your wedding dress to the program, and you’ll even be able to follow the progress of your gown through the Angel Gowns website.

The idea of Angel Gowns is not new. It originated in the WNY area with Missy Ray as an inspiration. The organization received its 501(c)(3) non-profit incorporation in September 2014. The mission is to provide comfort and hope to families and babies who have lost a child to death. By creating these robes, you’ll be helping to provide comfort and beauty to parents in a time of need. Angel Gowns also helps families remember loved ones who passed away by making angel robes.

The program takes donated wedding dresses and transforms them into beautiful infant burial gowns. Donated angel gowns are offered to hospitals, birthing centers, and funeral homes to give to grieving families for free. The gowns are also used to create vests for boys. The organization recently partnered with the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office in Ramsey to make the vests. And if you don’t have a wedding gown, donate it. You’ll never know who will end up wearing it again.

Despite being a gift to the world, burying your infant in an angel gown is a terrible experience. There’s no way to put the feeling of grief and joy in a piece of clothing. There are many other options to mourn the loss of a child, but Angel Gowns are a great way to commemorate a loved one. So make a donation today. All it takes is a little bit of time.
